Fly Away Ali

This quilt is called Fly Away Ali by Irene Long.

I fell in love with the cottage feel of the quilt when I found the instructions in Down Under Quilts magazine Issue 83 2005.

Baby Boys Quilt

I needed a baby boys quilt. I am stash busting, so not allowed to go buy more fabric.

The quilt once pieced looked a little to boring so I added the duckies to help make it look more babyish.

This is a baby quilt that I was trying to use the fabric up.

I found the embroidery picture at http://www.needlenthread.com/ I hand embroidered the panels and then designed the quilt around them.

He Is Faithful

"He Is Faithful" was created to celebrate the wedding of my son and his bride.

I often sang Scripture choruses with my children when they were younger and sometimes would insert their name into the verse. Philippians 1:6 - 'He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.' was a favorite which makes it an appropriate verse for this Wedding Quilted Art Wall Hanging.

 

This creation incorporates all batik fabric pieces, along with hand embroidery, embellishments of screen and beads that represent the seeds God plants in our lives. The blue background of the flowers representing growth in our lives is hand quilted.

Pink Poppies

This quilt is a small wall-hanging that I've just finished to hang in my cubicle at work.

It's 60cm square (24' square) and very simple - a central panel of a lovely stylised poppy print, and the two borders.

I outline quilted around the design lines of the poppies in pink, the stems in lime-green (even though they're grey in the print) and around their centres in black, adding the stamen in freehand embroidery. And I added small black seed beads at the end of each of the stamen (after the rest of the quilting and binding was completed).

The outerborder has an undulating feather design quilted in lime green. I'm hoping this will be the first of a series of this size quilt - it's small enough not to be a huge commitment, and I can fit two across the cubicle wall over my desk, so I'd like a changing display.

Hello dear Show and Tellers :o)

I must apologise because I have been unwell - I won't bore you with the details, although they are on my blog if you want them - so I had to let this site sit for a while.

I'm sorry that I didn't explain before it happened - I thought I would be able to keep going through the illness but unfortunately everything became too much and, while I was able to keep up for some time, eventually I had to stop.

But now I'm slowly mending and I can fire this up again. Yay!

There are 15 quilts in the inbox and I haven't looked at them yet so I will get a nice surprise too as we work our way through them together.

So, the short version is: starting tomorrow we will be back to business. I'm excited!
