"He Is Faithful" was created to celebrate the wedding of my son and his bride.
I often sang Scripture choruses with my children when they were younger and sometimes would insert their name into the verse. Philippians 1:6 - 'He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.' was a favorite which makes it an appropriate verse for this Wedding Quilted Art Wall Hanging.
This creation incorporates all batik fabric pieces, along with hand embroidery, embellishments of screen and beads that represent the seeds God plants in our lives. The blue background of the flowers representing growth in our lives is hand quilted.

This quilt is a small wall-hanging that I've just finished to hang in my cubicle at work.
It's 60cm square (24' square) and very simple - a central panel of a lovely stylised poppy print, and the two borders.
I outline quilted around the design lines of the poppies in pink, the stems in lime-green (even though they're grey in the print) and around their centres in black, adding the stamen in freehand embroidery. And I added small black seed beads at the end of each of the stamen (after the rest of the quilting and binding was completed).
The outerborder has an undulating feather design quilted in lime green. I'm hoping this will be the first of a series of this size quilt - it's small enough not to be a huge commitment, and I can fit two across the cubicle wall over my desk, so I'd like a changing display.

This quilt is an original, hand painted, thread painted, applique, and machine quilted. It represents Skating on a pond when I was young. I painted the sky and the buldings, as well as part of the skaters. I thread painted the trees in the town and the two trees in the foreground.

The fabric used is Sheridan bedspread fabric, beige and silver colours reversed on the other side, silver and beige. The outer borders were turned over from the back to the front and the middle section quilted, coloured and over quilted with metalic thread.
This quilt recieved a second prize last year at NSW guild quilt show at Darling Harbour. I was inspired by Tracey and Helen's Daisey Dance quilt many years ago and decided to give the coloured pencils and pastel a try out. I was too stingy to by a pattern from Tracey at Mittagong conference and just played with fabric medium and Derwents and chalk pencils, heaps of fun but very time consuming. I also love bling and the hot fix crystals just give it all a lift.

A few years ago I decided to make an advent quilt for one of DH's sons - since he now had children of his own.
This is my own design - I wanted a Christmas tree, and it had to have 24 pockets for treats.
Eventually I decided on this triangular design, using creams/neutrals for the background, greens for the tree and reds for the pot.
I used these same colours plus gold/yellow, white and black for the machine embroidered numbers in different fonts. The quilting is in the ditch for the tree and free-hand stars surrounded by stippling for the background. I found a gorgeous poinsettia print for the backing.

I found this wonderful panel at the local quiltshop that had all 4 seasons...
and with winter right around the corner at the time I thought this would be a great way to make 4 separate wall hangings, keep busy and once they were complete hang them at work on the window behind my computer that looks out onto the production floor and block my view of the fork lifts coming at me thruought the day.
Each one took about 2 1/2 weeks to complete.
I added tiny buttons and lovely ribbons to add a bit of tactile intrest. My sweet man made me a thin metal rod to slip through the ribbons so I could use 2 suction cups with hooks to hold them to the window.
I used fun bright backings since I have the pretty side aimed out to my co-worker and the back is facing me.

My favourite redwork designer is Bronwyn Hayes of Red Brolly, and I have several of her designs in the WIPs pile. This is the first one that I have finished and I think I started it in 2003.
Redwork is a great activity as it has only one colour thread, one needle and normally a variety of stitches in the block. These blocks were made bigger than the original and consequently the quilt was bigger. Some of the quilting is done with the computer and the majority of it is freehand. All the swags are freehand with some ruler work to form the frame work. I am so pleased that it is finished and being used on our bed. The label is still to be put on and this will be put behind the initials down the bottom and then I will quilt the label into the quilt.

This quilt is called 'Welcome to the North Pole' and is a Piece O' Cake Designs pattern. It was a lot of fun to work on.
It is hand appliqued and hand quilted. The quilt lends itself to a lot of embellishing and that part is a Work in Progress. Each year I add a bit more to it before hanging it for the Christmas Season. The close up photo shows some of the embellishing I have done.

This quilt was made for another of my husband's grandchildren - this is 'Courtney's Fairy & Elf Quilt'.
The basic design is an Irish Chain using a print and a plain plus calico (muslin) as the background fabric.
The machine embroidered Fairy and Elf designs are from Sue Box's embroidery card - 'Enchanted Fairy Treasures' (see www.suebox.com) The Irish chain was quilted along the diagonal lines.
The background to the fairy designs was filled with freehand quilted daisy designs.
The border design is a double undulating line also filled with freehand quilted daisies.

Red Clover by Sue Spargo 26 1/2" x 27 1/2"
Sue uses wools, velvets and cottons in her quilts. Not wanting to accumulate another stash I hand appliqued my wallhanging using my cotton fabrics. I added some beads for embellishments and machine quilted it. I am also making Ginger Grove by Sue. Denise

My local quilting store ran a competition for a wall hanging depicting 'take time to smell the flowers'. I interpreted this as the time I spend with friends. The quilt is constructed with 1 inch squares. Centre is hand embroidered with a verse and flowers. I have appliqued (loose wing) butterflies on it in the garden section and flying up to the top right corner. Machine quilted. Size was specified to be 70 x 50 cm. I was thrilled when my wall hanging won first prize.

In 2000 I issued the first part of a challenge at annual Hi-fibre Retreats at Port Hughes. Participants had to make a house block before the next years retreats, when the instructions were to add a path border, then in following years a garden and finally a fence. Almost every technique available was used in this wall hanging, and hand made buttons were purchased from Llewena Newell, who also "retreats" each year. No fabrics were purchased for this project, they all came out of the cupboard. The finished projects were gathered together in 2004.

I designed Gypsy Rose for a local patchwork store as a one day workshop. It's made from one jelly roll, two contrast fabrics for the sashing and borders and some extra bits for the big free standing roses. The allover quilting pattern is called 'Ruffles'.

This is a picture of the quilt I made for our guilds annual show. It has been finished for some time, but I wanted to wait to show it until it had been at the show. I meant to make a cheerfull, uncomplicated quilt and judging from this reaction: 'When seeing Margeeths quilt one of the visitors spontaneously exclaimed that she was going to make just cheerful things from now on' I managed to do just that.
It's inspired by this haiku:
The admiration
for these flowers is painful
for my vertebrae
(Japan, 17th century)

In July 2005 I was trying to teach myself how to use a Corel Draw, but having more success with Corel Paint, and experimenting with printing directly onto fabric, or Print Your Own Panel. I scanned one of my favourite photos of the garden in Kadina, then played with it until it became a watercolour painting! I've always loved watercolours, now I can do them myself, without a brush even. I printed it, then added borders, wadding and backing then hand and machine quilted and added some embroidery and charms. Made over four days... but it is only little. Cotton Fabric, Wool/polyester Wadding 12 inches x 15 inches

Wisteria Walk is the first quilt I designed using a Jelly Roll, this one is from the 'Sanctuary' range by Moda. Quilted with a happy edge to edge pattern and embellished with ruffles, ric-rac, yo-yos and buttons. I love the fresh colours for Spring!

This quilt was designed by Erica Kaprow to be made using wool and blanketstitch. It was a series quilt in Quiltmaker magazine. I used my 100% cotton marble modas and fossil fern fabric and needleturn. There is embroidery in some blocks.

In 2004 the Golden Harvest Quilters presented me with these blocks as a farewell gift, along with some fabric to match, a plant and a photo Album, and made me a Life Member all at the same time. As those who were there on the day I received my blocks should know, I was thrilled, and challenged! Also speechless! I had to think about how I would put them together while I unpacked, and for some time after. The first problem was that here were so many blocks that I would have to make lots of wall hangings. Or a quilt! And if it was to be a quilt, how about queen size for our bed, and leave out the wadding so we would actually use it during summer.
Before the blocks became threadbare from me playing with them, I put the small borders around each one in Jan 2005, and got them together, though still ragged around the edges two days later. The project was left a bit rough around the edges for more thinking time while I planned the border. It came out again in May 2006 and but it was not until the day the Golden Girls celebrated their 20th birthday on Wednesday 13th September 2006 that it became less ragged. Finally the day came, while the Golden Girls were celebrating at the 2006 Christmas Party, I got it all together, sandwiched (with out the filling so we can use it over our summer Christmas), quilted and within days it was completed and on the bed.
It looks absolutely wonderful, and every time Brian wiggles a toe bells ring! (I'm not telling you what is going on when the bells ring for extended periods of time, but we will have to curtail that sort of activity while we have guests!) I am delighted with the results, and it is sort of sad to put it away during the colder months, but what a thrill it is to get it out when the Christmas decorations come out for their annual airing. It is unlikely that I will ever forget the Golden Harvest Quilters anyway, but I have no doubt that the memories will come back every Christmas despite age and old timers disease!

The Christmas wall hanging belongs to Sydney Dunham and it was lots of fun to quilt.
I enjoyed working with the scenery and building up the landscape to try and achieve distance etc. We never stop learning do we?

This wall hanging was born in a luxurious shop of delightful fabrics. Freehand feathers spilling from a vase formalised by a simple frame on the double-shot dupioni silk, highlighted with crystals and a beaded fringe. This fabric was purchased in Salt Lake City in 2007, the week before we won a fantastic prize at Paducah Quilt show. Whilst in Paducah we visited the famous Hancocks of Paducah quilt shop (in a massive double tin shed!!) and I found the beaded fringe that went with this fabric.
Later last year I was challenged to enter something new into the Adelaide Quilt show in November. I didn't have a lot of time of course but decided to bite the bullet and get this quilt out of my head & onto this memorable fabric.....and beads.
Initially I was really happy with it whilst I was quilting it! BUT then I hung it on the wall & it was awful and very flat and boring.....the double shot silk just did not shimmer like it had when it was laying flat. I was pretty disappointed. So then I decided what the heck and put lots of 'bling' on it in the form of swarovski crystals.
This ended up lifting this quilt & giving it a new dimension....thankfully. It went on to receive first place in the Innovative small quilt in Adelaide, a third in the wholecloth section at HMQS 2008 and a teachers ribbon at MQX 2008.

This original wholecloth quilt was inspired by a picture of a piece of lace designed by Anton Unger, Germany in 1898. I have redrawn this design, with artistic license, then quilted it on my longarm machine. The delicate design was then enhanced by Helen Stubbings of Hugs 'n' Kisses using her Colourque(R) technique. This quilt won a top 10 award at Paducah in 2007. The Brother Wall Machine Workmanship award.
It now resides in my studio on the farm .....and Helen also teaches Mini Lace workshops to students wanting to learn how to complete the colouring process. Our own wonderful Hermione Agee has digitised a scaled down version of this design that I then stitch out on my Intelliquilter computerised system so that all students have their pre quilted Mini Lace Quilt to colour in a class with Helen. You can view more details on Helen's website.
